Even More Edits

I'm nearly done re-building the Edit Car page. To the best of my knowledge, the only problem with the Edite Page is that if you don't re-upload the photo of your car, you'll get the missing photo place holder.

I filled the lap database with bogus info so we could start to play around with it. You'll notice some funny things like one of your best laps is in someone else's car, on a track you've never driven. This isn't a bug - I filled the database with random info. The real thing, with real data will display only your data in your Garage.

This is where I need some feedback from you guys. How do you want to use the lap database? What do you want to compare? How do you want to search? What things don't you care about? Use the handy form in the contact page and lemme know, eh?

I also spent a fair amount of time making the interface elements consistent from page to page. You folks who are still using Internet Explorer are really missing out. I hate to beat a dead horse but you guys would be well served to upgrade to Firefox, Chrome, or even Safari. They're faster, more feature packed and more secure than Internet Explorer. It's not that I hate MicroSoft, it's that their browser doesn't support some of the really cool things I have in store for this site. Really. Trust me. Upgrade.

More Edits

Mike Reish, Admin - 01/26/10

I started re-building the New Car and Edit Car pages almost from the ground up. The New Car page should be working while the Edit Car page is mostly working but the submit button is de-activated until I'm done coding it.

If you upload a picture it will be scaled down to fit in three sizes: Large - 800x600, Medium - 320x240, and Small - 120x90. If you're thinking, "Man, those seem like mighty small images given today's internet and big displays", I say, "Yep. It's deliberate because this site is about lap times - not pictures." Also in your Garage you might notice a slight layout change. Now you get a small image of your car (or a default 'missing photo' if you didn't upload a picture) with links to all three image sizes.

We now have 52 race tracks and 35 confirmed users.

Roadmap

In response to questions in the thread, I decided to make a roadmap so you know what needs to be done and what I have planned.

You can read it here.

Car Data Testing

Mike Reish, Admin - 01/18/10

Today I'm declaring the new car page is beta. I'm not sure what sorts of data people would like so I made a test input page. If you get a chance, please enter some test data in the new car page. Just keep in mind that all data entered into the car database will be cleared when we settle on a design.

Please enter test data on your car to help us test. Remember though, when the final version goes live, the test CAR data will be flushed. Deleted. Purged.

If you'd like to add your suggestions please post to this thread or the handy form in the contact page.
